Long time, no blog

maybe I don't have as many interesting things to say as I thought, or I'm going about this blog thing all wrong. It certainly hasn't become a habit of mine to write what's in my head. I don't think I'm a empty headed idiot, am I?

Did you every see something happen in your life and think "finally, all my hardwork to get this done / make it happen has paid off." Then later you find out that it had nothing to do with you and it would have happened if even if you would have spent the last year in the Serengeti building bridges? (I hear there is a shortage there) yeah, well anyway I hate that.

Speaking of "hating" my youngest child has discovered how awefully powerful it is to say that he "hates" whatever. Really it's "whatever" you got, he hate's it. You say "Let's eat", he responds "I hate food!" you say "no, don't hit your brother with that shovel", he says "I hate you! and I hate the shovel!" oh and the best one is "you hate me!" if you chastise him in anyway, severe or not.

The secret to taking kids anywhere

I think I have found the secret to taking kids with you to the store. Quarters. Take plenty of quarters and reward good behavior with a stop at quarter vending machines. It's a small price to pay for being efficient at the hardware store with a three year old. Also task the little ones with asking an employee if they stock some bizarre item, like onions at an auto parts warehouse. It gives the child a real feeling of purpose, and is amusing for you. : )

I really am getting a new Car!

Forget all the stuff you previously read about me not getting excited about a new car. I'm excited about the car I really am getting. A 2005 Toyota Prius. Yeah that's right, it's one of those wierd hybird thingys. Like save the planet and all that jazz. I'm going to have to get a pair of Birkenstocks and a composting toilet to go along with my new earth friendly car lifestyle. (joking folks about the toilet, but I have been thinking about Birkenstocks) We are getting the silver color, with grey interior and the safety package installed. It' going to be 2 months or more before it's here, dang.

50 MPG on a bad day, up to 65 MPG with optimal conditions. I figure this will cut our monthly fuel cost to a quarter of current costs.

I'm Getting a Brand New Car! ... Some day

I never get excited about new cars, well, except BMW. But other then that, I think new cars stink. They are too expensive, get poor mileage, look stupid, too complicated, built crappy, you know the list goes on. But I found a car that I want to buy right now, acctually a truck. A 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. It's so cool, practical, useful, cool, comes in a neat blue, very cool, has realtime 4 wheel drive and a 6 speed, cool, did I mention that it's cool?

I'll take the blue with a 6 speed, locking rear diff and a roof rack. Thanks.

Just when you think it's safe to sleep again

I had this crazy dream last night that I lived in an apartment on the 2-1/2 floor in a hugh building with several entrances, non of which lead to my apartment directly. In my dream I kept getting lost trying to find my apartment. For some reason Jake, an old high school friend, was there and he was wearing rollerblades. He kept slipping on the steps and I couldn't figure out why he wouldn't take them off.
I'm really looking forward to not being sick anymore, it's starting to really mess with my head. The good news is I can sort of talk again, I was starting to wonder if I was going to have to get one of those little voice box thingies, like Stephen Hawkings has. I was kinda looking forward to spending the rest of my life sounding like Mr. Speak and Spell. Darn.

First Blog

So I went on vacation and got sick. Not like a little cold, or a few aches, like the illest I have ever been in my life. (is illest a word?) It's day 13 of the sickness and I'm finally getting better, I've lost my voice though, which is my primary reason for doing the blog. I feel like my Ideas are trapped in my head and I can't get them out because I cannot speak. I figure in a regular day I probably speak 5500 words or so, maybe that's low. The last 4 days I've probably said 1000 words total. Tough. More about this later.
